Shah brings a background in healthcare compliance, corporate governance, and strategic partnerships across healthcare and private equity-backed organizations. She has advised boards and executive teams through periods of growth and structural change, with a consistent orientation toward treating legal function as commercial infrastructure rather than a constraint on it.
The combined General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer mandate is common in growing healthcare services businesses, and it is harder than the title suggests. The two functions pull in different directions. Legal counsel is oriented toward enabling the business; compliance is oriented toward constraining it. Holding both means arbitrating that tension internally rather than escalating it, and doing so without the buffer that separate reporting lines would otherwise provide.
In autism services specifically, the regulatory environment adds weight. Payer requirements, state-level licensing variation, clinical documentation standards, and multi-site expansion each create exposure that compounds as an organization scales. A provider expanding its footprint is also expanding the surface area of everything that has to be governed correctly. Getting that function right early is materially less expensive than correcting it later.
